Prague Castle provides perhaps the most stunning and magnificent setting imaginable for two of Shakespeare’s best-loved romantic comedies A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Much Ado About Nothing.

Performed in beautiful Elizabethan costumes by a cast of 16 of Britain’s finest professional Shakespearian actors the shows will include live music and hilarious comedy all set in the stunning natural surroundings that Shakespeare intended for his plays.

A magical open-air festival of love, laughter and amorous adventure, performed by a company that continues to delight audiences and critics alike.

The Summer Shakespeare Festival takes place in the courtyard of Burgrave Palace.

Prague Castle

The castle was founded in 1348 by the Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV who personally supervised the construction works and the decoration of interiors. The former seat of Czech kings, Holy Roman Emperors and now where the President of Czech Republic has his offices, Prague Castle is one of the largest castles in the world (according to Guinness Book of Records the largest ancient castle).

The castle buildings represent virtually every architectural style of the last millennium. The Prague Castle includes gothic St Vitus Cathedral, Romanesque Basilica of St. George, a monastery and several palaces, gardens and defence towers. Most of the castle areas are open to tourists and nowadays, the castle houses several wonderful art collections and museums and the Czech Crown Jewels.
